Some New Visitors

Chapter 1

Oof! I am so tired! Justin and I got back from paintballing with Crash, Coco, Crunch, and Tani. Today was very fun. I, Justin, and Crunch were on the same team while Crash, Coco, and Tani were on the other. My team won twice and Crash's team won three times. We even had a game with everyone against me! I won of course. I guess I proved Tani wrong! Justin is already sleeping as I lay here on my bed. I'm trying to go to sleep but my adrenaline is still rushing through me. I decided to read in my journal again. I found the entry when Crunch, Tani, and Kong first arrived on the island. So I began to read my entry.

It was just any other day at the island, very boring. I couldn’t stop thinking about Tani being in that horrible place called the Cortex Castle. My brother had fallen asleep on the couch watching daytime television while I listened to the music I had stored on the computer at a low volume. I got up from the computer desk to go to the restroom but noticed something outside. I looked out of the windows and saw a small airship flying toward the island. I walked outside and saw the ship land near the shore a few kilometers down. Three creatures walked down the ramp and a human who looked like Brio! I ran into the forest and then closer to where they had landed. I saw Brio talking to the muscular koala who I saw when I woke up in the room at the castle. I noticed the two other animals exploring the area around the ship. I examined both of them. They both had the body shape of human teenagers. I squinted. One of them looked like… No, it couldn’t be! I ran back to the house and told Justin who I thought I saw.

Minutes later, Brio knocked on my door. I opened it.

“Hey Brio… Uh, what brings you here?” I asked already knowing what he was about to say.

“I dropped off some new visitors.” He told me.

“Who are they?” I eagerly wanted to know since I couldn’t recognize them.

“Koala Kong, Crunch and…” He paused. “…Tani.”

I looked at him in shock. “Oh! Wait, Tani? My Tani?!”

“Yes! Cortex wanted me to bring them here.” He said with a grin.

“Heh, well thank him for me.” I replied in a sarcastic way.

He laughed. “Well, I better get going now. I bet Cortex is wondering why I’m taking so long.”

“Alright Brio.” I shook his hand. “Thanks for bringing Tani.”

“You're welcome! But if I were you, I wouldn’t see her until she gets used to the island.” He said as he walked back to his ship.

“Yeah, that’s true. I’ll wait for a few months or so.” I said disappointed.

I closed the door. I sat down in my recliner and eventually fell asleep. I was very eager to see Tani, but I knew it would be a bad idea if I did. I waited and waited until…

Chapter 2

About a year later, I saw them snooping around my house. They were in my yard and walking up to the door. I looked out of the window and looked at Tani. She stopped walking along the pathway and looked at me through the window. Her eyes widened. I ran to the door to open it and saw Crunch with his paw in a fist to knock on the door. He looked up at me and snickered. Tani on the other hand ran right past him and hugged me. She started crying. I kneeled down to be at her eye-level, and squeezed her, but not as hard this time. I was crying tears of joy. I couldn’t believe how much she has changed!

“I missed you so much!” I smiled.
Crunch became confused since he didn’t know what was going on.

“You guys better go back home, I don’t want you to get in trouble from Cortex.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” She started looking around just in case anyone was watching.

“Ok, Tani. I’ll come visit you next time I go to Kong’s house.”

“Ok!” She said very happily.

“Wait, before you go, take this.” I picked up an unused rugby ball and handed it to her. “You and Crunch go have fun. I’m sure it’s very boring for you two.”

“Thanks!” She tossed the ball to Crunch and ran toward the beach. Crunch followed and then threw the ball back. They ran down the shoreline. Tani kept running with the ball as Crunch tried to get it back. I laughed as she kept dodging Crunch’s attempts of tackling her. I then walked inside the house and closed the door.

Everything was fine for a few days until, Justin and I saw a Cortex ship that flew down from space. I was in the yard when I saw this. It chased a hover board with, Crunch and Tani! They both got to the shore and jumped off of the board. The ship landed as I saw Cortex on his own. I knew something bad was about to happen. I called Justin over to see what was happening. He went around the back of the house to the shed. He opened it and brought out two twelve gauge shotguns. He threw one to me and I caught it with one hand. We ran into the forest. There was a loud bang heard in the atmosphere, Justin and I looked up to see a flying, red car! It flew to the position where they were. We finally got to the spot but we were too late! Cortex’s evil lab assistants captured Crunch and Tani and were walking them up the ramp, into the spaceship. The ship lifted off the ground and ascended into space. Kong got hurt from one of the weapons from the ship. I looked up and watched the ship fly higher into the sky. The rear door was still closing. Then, I saw Tani jump out! She landed in the water and asked where Crunch was. I looked up again, but I didn’t see him. Tani also looked up and her eyes became watery. She slowly walked out of the water as Kong asked her what happened. She didn’t answer. She sat down on the sand next to him. Justin and I ran out from behind the trees. I sat next to Tani as Justin sat next to Kong. We were all sad from what had happened.

Chapter 4

Tani had been working for a few months now. She had just left to work when I decided to call Brio and ask him if he wanted to build Tani a house. He agreed. We both called some friends to help us out. I called Mario to help but he couldn’t since he was already busy today.

Brio flew over in his jetpack and soon after, a boat full of lumber and building supplies arrived at the beach. Kong and Justin had arrived a few minutes later. After about an hour of unloading the material, we started building the house.

Later that day, we were just about finished putting in the windows when Tani called me on my cell phone. She said she was on her way home from work! I pretended to act as if nothing was going on at home and told her that there as a surprise waiting when she got home. She sounded very eager to see what it was.

After we finished talking, I told everyone that she was on her way home. We hurried as fast as we can to finish up the house, but no luck. We still had to paint and put in the carpet. Darn, there was no possible way for us to finish. The flying car Tani was in was landing on the beach. I ran over to her and led her back into the forest. I had a tight grip on Tani’s arm as we ran through the bushes and shrubs. She saw her new house and gasped in amazement.

“Oh my gosh! This is so neat! I can’t believe what you guys are doing for me!” She exclaimed as she hugged everyone who was helping build her new home.

“I thought it was about time you had your own place to stay.” I chuckled.

“Thank you so much!” She replied still very surprised.

I pointed at the house, “Too bad we didn’t get to finish though. Still needs a lot of work.”

“My friends and I can do it! I can get Kong and maybe Pinstripe, if he even wants to help,” She thought.

“That would be wonderful if they could!” I smiled. “Well, the sun is already setting, shall we walk back home?”

“Sure!” Everybody replied.
We were all relaxing in the family room when Brio told us some surprising news, “Tani, guess who I found?”

“Who?” She immediately relied hoping he had found Crunch.

“Your brother Tiny.” He said.

We all gasped.

Chapter 5

About a few days later, Tani was almost to the island. She was on her way home from visiting Tiny when she called me from Pinstripe’s car phone. Her friend Tiffany was driving it. Her house was finally finished yesterday. Pretty quick for just a couple of humans and anthros if you ask me.

We were talking about her visit with her brother, “It was... different" she told me.

“Well, that’s good that you’re not the only one left of your species.”

“True…”

She was cut off by her friend Tiffany, “Hey girlfriend, who’s that guy out there?” I heard her ask.

There was an awkward silence. “Um, Tani?”

“I’ll… call you back.” She slowly replied.

She hung up before I could say anything. I eagerly waited for her call.

She had finally called me back late into the night. She sounded very happy about something, “Dad guess what! Crunch has returned!”

“Wow! That’s great! I’ll go meet him again tomorrow morning then! Is he awake right now?” I was happy that Crunch had finally returned as well.

“Ok that sounds good! I’ll clean before you come over. And no, he’s asleep right now.”

“I bet! He’s been up in space doing who knows what kind of work. Well, alright! Can’t wait to see you guys tomorrow!”

“Me neither! Good night!”

We hung up. I crawled into bed and couldn’t wait to see Crunch for the first time in many years.

Chapter 6

I woke up and quickly got ready to go to Tani’s house. Grabbing my coat from the rack, I went downstairs, and ran out the door to her house. After the third knock, Tani opened the door. She gave me a hug and led me inside. Not bothering to take off my coat and shoes, we slowly walked toward the kitchen.

“Crunch! Come out here, someone wants to meet you!”

I heard a low growl and looked around. “Tani? Please tell me that was your stomach.”

“Why, what did you…”

I turned and looked down a dark hallway. Two big glowing eyes were staring at me. They got lower. I knew what the creature was going to do.

“Oh shit.” I said in a straight face.

The large mass of burgundy fur jumped from the shadows and onto me. I was knocked down to the floor.

“Crunch!” I heard Tani scream.

He ignored her cry and reached for my neck. I had an adrenaline spike and stopped his large paws a few inches away from my neck. Sweat started running down my face as I kept my eyes set on Crunch’s. I was scared out of my mind. I felt fatigued and my muscles couldn’t keep his paws away any longer. He managed to fit his paws around my neck. I gasped for air as he squeezed harder.

“Crunch! Stop!!!” Tani screamed again.

I tried to push him off with no luck whatsoever. He was too heavy for me to nudge. I was struggling to breathe as she kept yelling at him to get off of me. I looked over to Tani who was thinking of something to do. She then ran into the same hallway that Crunch had jumped out from. She sprinted and landed on Crunch and knocked him over. Finally! I could now breathe! I gasped for air as I quickly got up to my feet.

“Kong told you he was safe remember?” Tani yelled at Crunch. But he didn’t remember. It was so long ago, I didn’t think he would even remember in the first place.

“I better come back tomorrow,” I said as I brushed myself off and walked out the door. I slammed it in anger toward Crunch.

Before I walked down the ramps, I heard Tani yelling at Crunch again. I heard her say, “Crunch! He’s my father! How could you do that?”

It became very silent. I kept walking home.

I closed my journal since my eyes were feeling very tired. They wouldn’t stay open anymore! I set my journal on the night stand. The small digital clock, beside the picture of Tani and I, read 3:13 AM.

“Alright, time for sleep.” I said to myself.

I fell fast asleep but knew I would be very sore in the morning.
